This picture is not a picture of a dog wearing a sweater.  Well, it is, but more than that it is a picture of the importance of friendship.  Mandy is not a cold weather dog, and unless you happen to be Astronaut Station Commander Kelly, then you are undoubtedly aware of the sudden cold that has descended on us all this week!  So thanks to a kind act from a friend of Matil’s, we are able to present Mandy with a great sweater- and she loves to parade around the yard in it.  It is more important to us both because the sweater is handmade by a friend… it is just that simple.  Something assembled in a factory cannot touch the awesomeness of that- and I am sure you know what I mean.

Thank you, Susan, for your time and effort to provide Mandy a sweater to stay warm on these icy winter days.

As an aside- if any of you are taking an interest in this idea of a photo a day, or something else like a letter a day or a thank you a day- or some other daily challenge… I must say after just a few short days I can really see the inherent value in such a project and I completely recommend everybody to try it.  I thought I knew what it would be all about before starting but now that I set out to do this task, I am surprised about the differences between the expectations and the reality.

What I mean to say is that I expected the challenge to be that it might be hard to constantly come up with things to photograph.  As it turns out, that part is really no trouble at all.  In fact, I don’t spend time trying to list things I think might look good in a photo; instead, I keep my mind open to thoughts I have throughout the day and select one thought that seems important and then record it.  It is simple, and rewarding, to do this.

Today, my thought was on the importance of friendship.  And as I put Mandy’s sweater on, I suddenly knew how to share that thought with the world, visually.
